Man..

I wish you had more variation in your sounds.

This would be good background music, but I can't really see it as slow DnB.

Not much to say about it, it's good though.

And for a song name..um..

I really couldn't think of one.

TorkKey responds:

Thanks for the review.

Kk..

The beginning is very simple.

Actually, everything is very simple.

I honestly don't know what to say..um..

The melodies you did were nice, the didn't clash and they harmonized real well.

My problem is for one, the string instrument you used was choppy. It didn't have a smooth progression from note to note and that kind of bugged me. The piano was cool I liked it, and the synth you brought in later was hot.

The beat was annoying too, only because of it's simplicity. I wished it could have been more complex, but then again, it fit the mood of the song really well.

Overall, not bad.

iPixzel responds:

Oh sorry for late response,
I used a very limited program called ACID PRO.
Its nothing compared to FL Studio, because with FL, you have samples that only loop and loop, so its not freestyle. Thanks for the review though.

Samples?

Don't know if you used samples or not, but I liked this.

This is honestly really good for your first song! You have a basis, a very nice beat, you have a melody going on and I mean, everything harmonizes really well!

The sounds you used clashed though when you had them all playing at the same time, and after a while it grew to be boring because you were using the same melodies over again.

The beat was really nice though. Good job with that.

iPixzel responds:

Thanks! That really means alot.. seriously though. Its my first song.. I mean, how bad can it be..

Yeeessshh

Finally!!
You're on the top list..

Not really where I'd prefer you to be..(You need to be a bit higher..=D)

But anyway, another great one by you.

I liked this. I really got lost into this. And when you brought the guitar in..<3

Did you play that by the way?

Feels like you incorporated some Jazz into this, which I really liked.

And I noticed as it progressed to the end, the song was less..random as I should say. It seemed to go at a maintained rhythm. It's cool..

I could relate this to an iceburg..

The beginning was the tip you know? Confusing, not knowing what you expect, not knowing that there is much more to the song until you listein in depth and wait later to catch the full glimpse and message of it...Like how an iceburg is immense under the surface, but it hides it's bulk, only letting people see what it wants them to see..

Eh, bad analogy, maybe you can word it better..

Anyways,
Chill..per usual.

I shall be checking out Letters from the Sun once it hits NG, no doubt.

Keep it up!

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Haha, i've had some other songs up a bit higher : P

Yeah, i played all the guitar in the track : D

Yeah, a little bit of jazz, there's always a little shadow lingering around!

You really felt that, eh? The beat gets a bit more crazy towards the end XD (at least i think it does : P)

Heh heh, thats sort of the gist of the song. Mysterious and cold and a bit sad.

Mrah mrah mrah : D Gotta be chill : P

letters from the sun is actually already out! : D
Give it a listen if you like.

GrooVay!

The guitars in the beginning were a little off at times.

I loved the melody, but the voice was kind of loud, and it killed the song for me.

The bass..<3.

Beast.

Good job with this man!

Bill-The-Viking responds:

Yay its just samples and things, but still took time and such XD

Niiiceee..!!

Congrats on the top five man!

Not that I would expect less from you.

Yeah, the piano progession starting in the beginning without the harmonized notes was a bit off, but once the harmony came in..

All that crap went out the window! Nice job man.

Piano was HAWT! <33

Good work man! Top 5 ftw!

wyldfyre1 responds:

Glad you enjoyed it! As always thanks for the review!!

Donkey Kong! Memories..<3333

Very very good. Love how you incorporated a hiphop/trance feel in this. It's pretty sweet.

Especially when you slow the beat during the, well I call it, 'The Build-Up' of the song.

I've always loved the song at the Mines..that and the Vine place..(Don't know if you have any idea what you're talking about.)

And I agree with you with the "rare musician". Now-a-days people are focusing more on Nobuo Uematsu (and I won't fret, I love the guys music myself), but I do know that I practically loved ALL the songs on the DK games.

Anyway..strung out review XD, thanks so much for putting your twist on an already awesome song!

P.S.-I don't know what it is at from 1:31 to like 1:36, that glitch was highly annoying (I know it goes with the song). Otherwise, nice job man.

Godknown responds:

Hey, thanks a lot for your review. I know what you're talking about. I listen to the DK music quite a bit, and find myself listening to the Mining Melancholy piece the most.

Also, the 1:31 to 1:36 pattern annoys me too, so I am probably going to re-upload the MP3 (not the entire submission) with that drum pattern either changed or removed. I was trying to get that feel from the original piece, but it just isn't happening with these sounds.

Thanks again, though. Appreciate it!

Sincerely,
Ka'eo

Lonely indeed..

First off, very nice song. You gave the feeling that you entitle in the name. You did really good with this, I always like heart felt songs like this.

Now the beat..

The beat sounds...generic? I don't know how to define it. The beat is good, I'm not saying it's not, it just sounds like it came from FL. Trust me, I have the same problem, and now I understand what people mean when they say that they can hear and tell when a beat or something sounds like it came directly from the FL. You could maybe add some reverb on the congos to give it a more solemn effect. (Is it congos? I have no idea lol)

The melody is really good, I liked it, especially with the bells. The flute was a nice touch as well, and I really liked the pads you used. I was hoping you'd put piano in, but you didn't, which doesn't really matter but anyway..

This is a real good song. I coul definitely hear it in a video game.

Keep up the good work!

ian15 responds:

Yeah. I'm not very good with beat. Most of my songs don't have a beat, and that's something I need to work on.

As for the piano, I would like to use a piano, but I don't have any descent piano samples. I have looked all over the internet for them, but I can't find any free ones.

Nice, nice, nice.

It's good.

I can tell you just removed the slayer.

It sounds good with just the piano in my opinion.

I don't know, maybe you could tweak this, and switch up the piano melodys, and make a version of this song with the slayer, and one featuring the piano.

It is slightly repetitive, but the melody is still catchy and entertaining.

Nice man.

Manhart responds:

I have actually added a string, made several changes in the piano, added reverb to piano, and made some changes in the structure and some minor things. It is also 17 seconds longer ;)

But thanks for the review and score!

Mellow..

The song has a good vibe to it..

It just seems to repeat it self. It's somewhat of a build-up song all lthe way through.

I guess to sum it up, after a while it loses it's interest.

It's still a good song though.

Keep it up!

MarkySpark responds:

Thanks for your comments, I appreciate it.
