K. Ze Scoop.

The bass is awesome. Don't change it. D: It rocks.

Now, for the melody. It sounds really good, but in my opinion, it's a bit repetitive, and the fact that there wasn't a build-up until 2 minutes into the song, which led back into the same melody, makes it a bit dry.

I understand it's a demo. It's going to be really good I can tell! Just mess around with the melody some and change it up.

Good luck!

ShinRok responds:

Thanks for the review!
Yeah I understand the melody is kinda repetitive ill fix it when I get the chance.

Lol?

This is really weird, but it's creative.

The voices kept me attentive, but I wish you could have thrown a melody in the mix, or switched from the constant kicks and snaps and thrown in a different beat sample/sound.

Not bad man.

Wow, nice.

I know what you mean about trying to find good Classical sounds.

Believe it or not, I'm still using the cruddy soundfont that FL gives you originally. I have an orchestra vst, but it doesn't give me the sound I want. It has other good features but..I would like better.

This song is great. I love the piano accompaniment. This is really heart felt, and honestly, the strings don't sound that bad. I'm too drawn in to the harmonies, chords, and beautiful melody to notice if the soundfont is "crap" or not.

Beautiful song man.

Feels like a favorite.

AtomD responds:

Thanks a lot for the kind words. If you're interested I used 3 soundfonts:
Campbell's Strings and Campbell's Tuba and some free Steinway Piano soundfont.
The fisrt two can be found at Hammersound: www [dot] hammersound.net/cgi-bin/soundlink.pl
The last one at www [dot] pianosounds.com/freesoundfont.htm
I'm actually quite impressed by them.

Sweet.

Sounds like midi music. Something I would hear on a nes game or an old PS1 game.

This is actually pretty cool.

I love the break at 00:57-58 ish. It was really nice. And the build-up was awesome too.

I was wondering why everything seems like it's panned kind of far to the left or right.

I don't know, it may just be my headphones. It sounds kind of like it's a bit muffled.

Bah, anyway. Great song. =]

Hm..

Some things sound a bit off. Like at 0:17 and further on in the song. The rhythm for this song is interesting enough, but everything sounds mushed together, and the instruments don't harmonize that well.

Try panning some things to the left and right, and turn the volume down on certain instruments.

Keep at it.

SoundTheStereo responds:

yee, i know what you mean about the 'off' and the mushed-ness... this is actually an improvement of what was, haha... in time i will learn

thanks for the criticism

i dont know how to write music ;) i only have minor percussion theory.. lol

Sweet.

K, I'll try and do the best I can, since I'm an amateur at the guitar myself. :P

K, first off, I'm lovin' the melody. The guitars harmonize really good, and the synth you have in the background sounds really good. At 1:05-06 ish, the slide seems as if it's kind of messy. At 1:45-46 it sounds cleaner. The break melody was really nice, but some of the notes sounded off beat on the keyboard part. Not many, but only a small few. The guitar solo was pretty sick too. Nice job with that.

Wish the review could be longer but this is all I have. Music-Story probably covered it all, or nearly :P, anyway.

Great song man.

GlueR responds:

Many thanks for the review and your nice words!
The slides are indeed a bit off (the one starts just a bit earlier than the other), but that was done to create a sort of stereo effect, as the one is panned hard left and the other hard right, which is exactly what's going on with the second one, which (if I remember right) is the same recording as the first one.
The electric piano melody was recorded in midi before going to audio and then went to timing corrections and partially quantized, which is what I always do with keyboard tracks. So, I'm not entirely sure that it's possible for it to be off.
Overall, I'm sure some things are off here and there, but I don't want to overdo it with corrections (the same reason I don't correct all vocal tonal errors and leave just a few through), cause I will loose the natural feel of real recording.

Thanks for the feedback! It makes me happy that comments about this are picky, both because it shows that you're actually paying attention to the song when reviewing, taking the task seriously, and because there seem to be no horrible mistakes in the song! :-)

Nice.

The effects and everything are really good.

I'm trying to get the hang of mastering myself at the moment (which I'm struggling with btw), but I'd have to say that you did a really good job with this.

The fx are smooth, and your transitions are well-done, and I especially liked the change at 6:02.

There wasn't as much melody/countermelody movement as I would have liked (or expected) but this is still a good song nonetheless.

Good job.

heartless1298 responds:

Thanks :)

Oi..

I agree, you should continue with this, I hope you are.

This is going to be really good.

Sorry for the crappy review. D:

I guess as some sort of constructive criticism..er..change up the pad chords to kind of get the melody moving around.

Good luck.

DaMuX responds:

I've been working more on it and I'm submitting it tomorrow.
But it is still not done... work continues slowly but the work pays of.
You can hear the (maybe) half song tomorrow.
Thank you!

Not bad.

The drums are really good, and I liked the synth you added later to accompany the flute or whatever kind of woodwind you were using.

This sounds like it's going to be pretty good.

My only complaint is the flute's melody started to get old after a bit, but this is the wip, so I know the tune won't consist of that rhythm entirely.

Let me know when the fulls up. :]

Lol, nice man.

The beginning, first of all, is very impressive.

I love the drums you used in the beginning that tied into the melody of the song.

At 00:56, nice melody change. It fit the song perfectly..

And then the pads you added in later.

What is awesome about this are the presets.

You used presets (Not alot, but the couple that I heard) and they sound like..THIS!.

It's f'in awesome. Lol

You outdid yourself man..

P.S.- 2:11 is sweet, but some things sound a bit off, like they keys are matching up all that well.

But otherwise, nice job.
I'm really impressed. :P

YouriX responds:

Im so glad you reviewed my song. And 00:56 that whas me! i played that part to give the song a little variosion since the original song loops :P

And the 2:11 well its to late to fix that dont feel like it :P

And did i outdid myself? YES!! i dont know if i can make a remix as good as this!

I think because this theme from Zero is my most fav song ever so i must have put a lot of love into this.

But owell and im glad you commented on my pads cuz i try choosing the right pads for this song.

And thanks again for comenting it means a lot! :D
